woman Unknown‏‎ 1)

Notes: Merfyn's wife is often identified as Nest ferch Cadell based on a late 14th century manuscript. She is very likely to be an invention and hence is not included here.

to:

man Merfyn Frych ap Gwriad of Gwynedd, King of Gwynedd‏‎ 1)
Died ‎844

Notes: Merfyn Frych ('Merfyn the Freckled'; Old Welsh Mermin), also known as Merfyn ap Gwriad ('Merfyn son of Gwriad') and Merfyn Camwri ('Merfyn the Oppressor'),[1] was King of Gwynedd from around 825 to 844, the first of its kings known not to have descended from the male line of Cunedda.

Child:

1.
man Rhodri ap Merfyn of Gwynedd, King of Gwynedd‏ 1)
Born ‎± 820
Died ‎878‎, approximately 58 years

Notes: Rhodri ap Merfyn (c. 820-878), later known as Rhodri the Great (Welsh: Rhodri Mawr), succeeded his father, Merfyn Frych, as King of Gwynedd in 844. Rhodri annexed Powys c. 856 and Seisyllwg c. 871. He is called "King of the Britons" by the Annals of Ulster. In some later histories, he is referred to as "King of Wales", although the title is anachronistic and his realm did not include southern Wales.
