Notes: Richard was accused of assault in 1769: "Richard Head of Seaton and Beer, mariner, is bound to appear at the next Session, accused of assaulting and beating John Bastone of Sidmouth, labourer. Sureties: Philip Head of Seaton, mariner, and William Weshlade of Salcombe Regis, yeoman".

On the 6th October 1783, Richard and his wife applied for a mortgage/lease for Claylands, a property on the Ashleigh Estate in Barnstaple for a 2000 year term, costing £90. It mentions that he was a merchant.
